Children’s Play Area

A welcoming neighborhood park along Buffalo Bayou.

The Lockwood on Buffalo Bayou affordable housing community is nestled within Garver Park, a ten-acre green space. This new park serves as a verdant front yard for Lockwood residents and surrounding neighbors for recreation and connection to nature. Garver Park features:

  • Lush, native plantings gently rolling hills with a preserved tree canopy.
  • Accessible multi-use paths meandering through the landscape.
  • Children’s play area with nature-themed play structures and equipment.
  • Dog park with designated areas for large and small dogs and natural features for exploration
  • Standard amenities, including seating, water fountains and bottle-fill stations, trash and recycling receptacles, BBP’s signature Lunar Cycle Lighting, bicycle racks, and blue light call boxes.
  • Dedicated parking lot beneath the Lockwood Drive overpass on the eastern edge of the park.

After the expansion of Tony Marron Park is completed in 2027, an improved hike and bike trail segment will connect the two parks to the bayou trail network.

Garver Park is open to the public, however, access is currently limited due to ongoing construction on the adjacent Marron Park Way which is anticipated to be completed in spring 2026.

By 2032, Buffalo Bayou Partnership and its partners will realize the Buffalo Bayou East 10-Year Plan, bringing parks, trails, bayou-crossing bridges, affordable housing, cultural destinations, and infrastructure improvements to the Greater East End and Fifth Ward.  This visionary plan is made possible by a $100 million catalyst gift from the Kinder Foundation to Buffalo Bayou Partnership, which leveraged significant public support from Harris County and the City of Houston, including Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone funds.
